Friday 8th October, heralded the first birthday party of Night Eats Day, boasting a killer line up including New Navy, BlueJuice DJ set, The Dirty Secrets and Dappled Cities!
But for such decent acts the crowd was surprisingly sparse at ye olde Grande Hotel. This only slightly dimmed the mood as the bands each pumped out some awesome tunes and those who were present, were extremely stoked at their good fortune at receiving such an intimate show.

First up New Navy graced the stage, delivering some long awaited fresh new tracks to the eager local ears. Maintaining their established fusion of eerie, soaring guitar, bangin’ bass and drums that make your heart race, the vocals noticed a new addition with guitarist Jamie revealing some delicate falsetto that neatly complements the usual resonant depths of lead singer Ben. I look forward to their E.P. launch a little later in the year!
Next The Dirty Secrets hit the stage like a whirlwind. Led by their flame haired front-man, they had so much energy and zest, it was infectious and impossible not to bop and wriggle. Their blend of electro synth, pounding drums and distorted guitar whipped up a party vibe, which they took turns to enhance by taking to the microphone. A real team effort, they were very enjoyable to watch, particularly the front man with his puppet moves and wild mane!
Headlining the event, Dappled Cities were tight and polished. Songs flowed effortlessly as their bowie-esqe, electro/ rock sound mixed between soothing vocals and a harder, edgier line. The electricity was seamless between the band members and they executed their craft with tender passion. The only downer was that there weren’t enough people there to see them!
